Lucas Torreira has agreed to join Valencia but the Arsenal midfielder looks set to stay with the Gunners for now.
The midfielder is keen for a move away this summer, after the last two seasons out on loan. Torreira had appeared likely to stay at Fiorentina, but that permanent move ultimately ended up falling through.
It has left the 26-year-old facing an uncertain future, with it still expected that he will leave north London this window but he will travel with the Gunners to the USA for a pre-season tour.
Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur has confirmed that Mikel Arteta wants the player to be involved in Arsenal training for now, though it remains to be seen whether he will feature in any of the Gunners’ pre-season matches.
Bentancur revealed that Torreira has reached an agreement with Gennaro Gattuso and Valencia to join the La Liga club, with the Uruguayan keen to seal that move in the coming weeks.
“We have a pre-agreement with Gattuso for Torreira to play in Valencia,” Bentancur told Sport 890, via Sky Sports.
“Today there is an important meeting on this issue. Arsenal coach Arteta wants to have him in the pre-season.
“He had great numbers with Arsenal but we have pre-agreement with Valencia.”
