Love On Tour Glasgow: Harry Styles 'first ever' stadium performance isn't a night to forget

Kicking off the first show as part of Love On Tour 2022, Harry Styles took to the stage in Glasgow's Ibrox last night (June 11) where he was greeted by over 50,000 - and it was a sight to behold.

Fans of the chart-topping star will know Harry’s House, his hotly anticipated third album, was worth the wait with it already having broken records and claiming the fastest-selling album of 2022 as well as jumping straight to number one within its first week.

And it seems it wasn't just the album that was worth the wait but the concert too thanks to its two year push due to the pandemic.

Joined by Japanese-American singer-songwriter Mitski as the support act, obsessed fans flew thousands of miles - some as far as Australia - to get a glimpse of the stars.

The former member of boyband One Direction was last in Scotland back in 2018 and couldn't have found a better way to come back.

Speaking to the audience, the pop star said he had been "waiting a long time" to visit Scotland.

With a grin on his face he continued: "Thank you so much, this is my first ever stadium show and I'm going to let you in on a secret...I like it, I really like it."

Opening the tour with Music For a Sushi Restaurant, Harry jumped around on stage with a grin like a Cheshire cat as he performed quirky dance moves - much to the delight of the crowd - in a phenomenal yellow and blue jacket with two strawberries on the front.

The As It Was singer spoke about what the third album meant to him describing its making as one of the "happiest times of my life."

Calling Glasgow "unbelievable", the 28-year-old thanked the crowd countless times adding; "Thank you so much this has already been so special to me and I thank you so much. I won't forget this."

It was then one front row fan caught his attention and before she knew it, Chloe was being sang happy birthday by Styles himself and the whole of Ibrox.

Despite all the positivity, fans online had a mixed reaction to the set list with 11 out of 13 songs from Harry's latest album on the list with only a few songs from his others.

But on the night, this really didn't matter with every single person in the football venue screaming, shouting, jumping and for some, crying.

Although young, Harry's power of humility didn't go unnoticed with him reminding people to take care of themselves and their loved-ones.

Few artists can have as much energy as Harry does and make it look the way he did with songs such as Love Of My Life, Daylight, Cinema and Keep Driving capturing the audience with every single word of the song despite some of them being younger than teenagers.

Pulling off an epic performance, you wouldn't have been able to tell this was his first stadium show as he breezed around the stage and interacted with every corner of the venue so naturally.

The audience, although largely comprised of young women in pink cowboy hats and matching attire, had a mixture of sexes as well as ages showing that his music may be everyone's cup of tea if you find the right song.

Using his charm, he so effortlessly strutted around the stage with the saltire and pride flag in hand, which was met with a huge applause, and with it being our first Harry Styles gig, we were not let down at any point during the show.

On top of his sheer musical talent, Harry and his incredible band gave the performance of their life with stunning stage lighting and special effects on the big screen adding to the unforgettable atmosphere.

Whether you're listening to him through your earphones, in the car blasting it on full volume or watching him live on stage, it's evident Harry can make anyone feel at home.
