Love Island viewers 'rumble' secret code behind Ekin-Su’s ‘front door’ excuse

Love Island fans believe they have twigged the secret meaning behind Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu’s excuses amid her secret liaisons with villa bombshell Jay Younger.

Love Island ’s episode on Thursday evening saw audacious Ekin-Su crawl out onto the terrace on two consecutive nights to share a steamy kiss with the investment analyst, despite being coupled up with Davide Sanclimenti.

After returning from one of her rendezvous, Davide asked Ekin-Su where she had been, to which she said the “front door”.

While it initially seemed Davide would easily see through the overt lie, many ITV2 viewers were left thinking the term could be a code for something else.

A Twitter came alight with talk of Ekin-Su and Jay’s secret crawling trysts, a number of viewers pointed out that 'front door' could be code for the unseen smoking room.

One fan wrote: “For anyone confused, front door means smoking. They are not allowed to say they were smoking on screen.”

Another asked: “Is the front door the smoking area??”

Other Love Island viewers were left tickled that Ekin-Su had come up with such a weak response, with one writing: “Ekin-Su saying she was at the front door. Girl make it believable.”

Another added: "Ekin-Su has literally ANY room in the villa to choose from and her survey says 'The front door'."

ITV bosses decided to ban smoking on screen in 2018 after numerous complaints from viewers.

In the early seasons of the show, countless Islanders would have a gossip about the ongoing drama in the villa w hile puffing away on a cigarette in the designated villa smoking area.

It was even revealed that contestants who smoked were given 20 cigarettes per day by show producers.

Craig Lawson, who briefly appeared on the show, said in 2017: “The show normally provides 20 fags a day per person – so five people equates to 100 cigarettes. Fags are on mass supply...

“But if you get through your daily allowance then you won’t be given anymore – no one should be smoking more than 20 a day. That’s a lot. Some people smoke quite excessively in the villa...

“I’m a non-smoker but I would still get a supply. You get so bored when you’re in there – that’s why you see so many people smoking. There’s only so much you can talk about your life.”

Amid the ban, Head of ITV2, Paul Mortimer, told the Radio Times that “more than 50 percent of complaints about the show were about people smoking.”

While the cigarettes have been banished from ITV screens, they’re still available in the villa, as producers have installed a designated smoking area, with only one Islander permitted to smoke at any given time.

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
