Love Island viewers blasted Gemma's negative comments toward Ekin-Su.
After their romantic one-on-one, serenaded in a candlelit coliseum, Davide and Ekin-Su finally admitted they loved each other. Debriefing the other islanders on her time, she admitted it was one of the most romantic evenings of her life.
The girls speculated Davide asked to make things official but Ekin said he "did something more than that". After explaining he declared his love for her, Gemma started to question Ekin's levels of intimacy.

She said: "How was that more than boyfriend and girlfriend?" Defending herself, Ekin-Su said: "It just feels more. You can be boyfriend and girlfriend but you don't always say the L word. The other islanders defended Ekin's reasoning before changing the subject to Paige's date.
The cold response from Gemma was met with unhappy comments from viewers as they condemned her for not hyping Ekin's emotions like the other islanders. One viewer said: "Gemma being confused at how saying "I love you" is deeper than being bf/gf is exactly why a 19yr old shouldn't be on this show lol. Also, girl stop hating."
Another added: "Gemma stop hating for five second challenge."
A third viewer said: "Gemma’s the kind of friend that’s never happy for you and somehow has to 1 up you."
A final comment added: "Gemma is SO BLOODY NEGATIVE. Saying I love you is a bigger deal than a label for many people."
On her date, Gemma failed to show her emotions as much as the other islanders and was called out for not being able to pick her favourite date by her partner Luca. Throughout the series, Gemma has come under fire for her frosty demeanour and comments, specifically toward Ekin-Su.
