Love Island's Gemma Owen and Luca Bish were shocked when they both received villa visits from their respective parents on Sunday, July 31. The pair, who have continually talked about Gemma's mum's approval, finally got what they wanted during the episode.
Gemma's mum, Louise, told her daughter: "You've got on haven't you? You just need to see what you get on like in the outside world. Just see how it goes." She also described how she would've coupled Luca and Gemma together during the first episode of the popular ITV2 dating show.
Meanwhile, Luca’s dad Michael said of Gemma: “She puts you straight doesn’t she.” His mum, Maria, added of the 19-year-old: “First night I said they fancy each other, I knew it. I love the values and morals she has.” Following the meeting, Gemma said: "It was nice to see Luca's mum and dad. They were really lovely." Luca, meanwhile, was shocked when Louise said that people had been comparing him to Gemma's father, Michael Owen, in the outside world.

Gemma and Luca's Love Island journey has been anything but plain sailing. Gemma started the competition, partnered with Welsh sportsman Liam Llewellyn. The match seemed to made in heaven, as prior to entering the competition, the 19-year-old said: "Sport has always been a big thing for me and my family. My dad [Michael Owen] was a professional football player. I’ve competed for Great Britain in dressage since I was 11 years old." This, however, was not the case and her attentions soon turned to Davide Sanclimenti. When Davide and Gemma recoupled, Liam quit the villa after just six days in the competition.
During this time, fishmonger Luca Bish, was in his own sticky situation. The 23-year-old was partnered with Welsh paramedic, Paige Thorne, and much like Gemma and Liam, the sparks weren't flying. With Davide's attentions being turned by Ekin-Su, Luca would make his move on Gemma and this, in turn, would lead to Love Island 2022's most prominent couples.
Whilst the pair have had their ups and downs (notably Luca's apparent "possessive" behaviour over Gemma), the pair's relationship has blossomed during their time in the villa. Whilst many Islanders succumbed to the temptations of Casa Amor, both Gemma and Luca remained loyal to each other and didn't have their eyes turned.
Luca had a few words for Gemma after 'Mad Movies' night in which he watched a clip of her "flirting" (or so he said) with Billy Brown. After watching the film, he said to Gemma: "You were entertaining it", to which she replied: "No, I wasn’t." Speaking to the other boys, Luca said: "I don’t even want to talk to her tonight. Made me look like an absolute f*****g w****r I ain’t going f*****g near that bird."
Luca then warned: "Bring a f*****g bird in now and watch me flirt. If she wants to play it down to me I will f*****g explode." A confused Gemma told the girls: "I don’t think any lines have been crossed." She then told Luca that he was "overreacting" and being "immature".
Luckily for them, the couple settled their differences and would eventually admit to "loving" the other. The pair would have their final date on the show on Friday, July 31. During the date - which was remarkably similar to Faye and Teddy's last year - Gemma says: "You know I find it hard being lovey-dovey, but I feel like I’m quite more lovely-dovey with you than anyone really before. I always find myself gravitating towards you. I always want to be near you and in your company."
