Love Island's Tasha Ghouri says her cochlear implant is her “superpower”, and men find it attractive.
The trailblazer, 23, is determined to inspire young deaf viewers with her appearance on the show, which she says is a “big statement” by producers.
Tasha adds: “This would be a great opportunity to go and show the younger generation, ‘Don’t be afraid to date, don’t be afraid to find love because of what superpower you’ve got’.
“I really hope that this will bring so much positivity and hope to a lot of people’s lives and give them that confidence. Watching me on the screen, I hope that they can be like, ‘Wow, she’s doing what I want to be doing’.”
Yorkshire lass Tasha’s ASOS modelling campaign went viral last year after she proudly displayed her implant, which she was given aged five.
“I don’t call it a disability – it’s a word that doesn’t describe me. I think because I’m so confident about it, I think [men] find that quite attractive .
“I’m like, ‘This is who I am, take it or leave it. If you don’t accept it that’s your loss’.”
*Love Island starts Monday at 9pm on ITV2.
