Love Island's Sam Bird marries fellow reality star following secret elopement

Love Island 's Sam Bird has wed fellow reality star Kailah Casillas following a secret elopement.

Sam, who took part in the 2018 series of ITV2’s Love Island, tied the knot with The Challenge star Kailah in a ceremony in Gibraltar, after he popped the question to the former MTV star in 2020.

The former reality star revealed the news in a surprise announcement on Instagram on Monday with a video of their elopement.

“The new Mr & Mrs Bird. Tied the knot in Gibraltar and vlogged the whole trip, link in bio to watch!” he captioned a short teaser clip of their intimate day.

Kailah, who has changed her name on Instagram to Casillas-Bird, uploaded a snap of her and her new husband, and told her followers she was over the moon to be Sam’s wife.

“We eloped! I never dreamt of having a big wedding, so we decided to take a trip to Gibraltar and do it the most intimate way possible, just us. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, @samrobertbird,” she wrote.

In the YouTube vlog, Sam explained that they “didn’t want a big wedding”, so had been scouring the internet looking for somewhere to get hitched abroad in two weeks.

The couple had to choose between Denmark and Gibraltar, and settled on the latter, booking a company who could help them organise a ceremony in just 14 days.

“A few weeks later we packed our bags, got dodgy spray tans, and headed to Girbaltar,” he said.

The video montage showed clips of them flying to the island, as well as a tired looking Kailah yawning while in a taxi.

“As soon as we landed , it was straight to the registry office to hand over our lives, I mean documents, to get the stamp of approval for our marriage” she joked.

“Technically, we’re going to be 80% married by today,” Sam told his bride-to-be. “And then, 100% married tomorrow?”

“If I don't change my mind, then yeah,” Kailah quipped.

She told viewers they woke up “full of nerves and tequila from the night before”, but make-up artists and hairstylists were on hand to transform Kailah into a gorgeous bride.

The video then showed Sam and Kailah preparing to walk down the aisle together, and sweetly captured the moment they exchanged personalised vows.

“I love your laugh, your smile, and your infectious loving personality,” he said, as Kailah wept.

“And in the words of my favourite movie, I’m so happy to marry you, so I can kiss you anytime I want,” she told Sam, quoting the romantic drama Sweet Home Alabama.

The video then showed more behind-the-scenes footage of Sam and Kailah posing for pictures together, as well as the couple officially tying the knot in front of a registrar.

“So we're officially married,” Sam told the camera.

Kailah revealed Sam’s friend’s had flown in “just in time” to give their best man speeches, and the wedding afterparty went off with a bang, as the couple drank champagne and danced the night away in their penthouse suite.
