Love Island's Liam Llewelyn's dad has hit out at Gemma Owen's 'bad attitude' towards his son.
Former Wales International Rugby Union player David Llewelyn has jokingly revealed what he would say to footballer Michael Owen after fans claimed his daughter Gemma was 'rude' to Liam after they were coupled up on the show.
The 22-year-old strength and conditioning Master's student from south Wales and International Dressage Rider Gemma, 19, were put together by the public during the first episode of this year's series.
The nation has watched the pair get to know each other from home, but many were left unimpressed by Gemma's attitude towards Liam during the first few episodes.
On Heart South Wales, Liam's dad joked he would tell fellow sportsman Michael: "He's a footballer, I'm a rugby player, I hope he doesn't fall over when I shake his hand."
David went on to praise his son for being such a gentleman on the show.
He continued: "It's just a privilege to see him on there. He's such a charming young man.
"He's just a gem. He's such a kind-hearted soul. He'd light up any room in the world.
"Whether he wins or not he's a true gentleman and he's coming across lovely, he's a top young man."
It comes after viewers were left feeling sorry for Liam as Gemma made it clear she is not interested in him.
She snapped at Liam on the first night of the show as he asked her if she knew what the subject of his Master's degree meant.
"Don't be a d***," she sternly told him. "No I'm not playing that stupid game."
In last night's episode, things got worse for Liam as single, Italian bombshell Davide decided to couple up with Gemma - stealing her off Liam.
Standing around the fire pit, Davide said: "Naturally, it has not been easy to choose because in only 24 hours it is difficult to try to know everyone and try to make the right decision.
"So I decided to couple up with this girl because there's not just attraction, I mean, yes she is a stunning girl, but I felt we really have a good time and I would like to know her more."
