Laura Whitmore has appeared to shoot down talk of Love Island being on for longer this year, with a telling remark made in a teaser advert for the show's return.
Nearly 20 years after it started live as a celebrity show, featuring the likes of Bianca Gascoigne and Calum Best and seven years after it made a resurgence on ITV2, Love Island will kick off its new series on Monday, June 6 when a whole host of new singles will enter the villa, a brand new one for 2022, in search of romance Among the Love Island line up this time is Michael Owen's daughter Gemma, with her inclusion on the show raising a few eyebrows.
In a break with tradition, Love Island bosses chose to drip feed the identities of this year's contestants last week and, among the many people sharing in the excitement of the big reveal was the show's presenter Laura, who hosted for the first time last year, following in the footsteps of the late Caroline Flack.

Laura appeared in an unexpected advert for Love Island which broadcast during the Britain's Got Talent final on Sunday night and, it was during the brief preview, that she 'confirmed' how long the new series would last. And her statement appeared to put to bed talk it's been extended from the usual two month to 10 weeks.
Looking at the camera, Laura said: "This summer love is ours; every romance, every bromance, every recoupling round the firepit. For eight weeks we're going to own love and it all kicks off tomorrow in a brand new villa."
She added: "Get ready to get some loving in your life. Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and itvHub.
