Love Island's Laura Whitmore gives verdict on the islanders including her winners

Host Laura Whitmore obviously knows more than most about Love Island.

She gets all the inside scoops as she intermittently visits the Majorcan villa, normally to drop bad news on the islanders. Last night she was present for the very dramatic recoupling after Casa Amor, which landed the show a record audience.

Love Island had its biggest overnight audience since the 2019 final with a fantastic total audience of 3.9m across all devices as they tuned in to watch the fallout from the second villa. During the record breaking episode, islanders decided whether to stick with their current partner or couple up with a new bombshell.

Today, Laura appeared on the radio to discuss the night's shenanigans and give her verdict on what she thinks of this year's contestants. On Capital Breakfast, she told host Roman Kemp that she was backing Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Davide Sanclimenti to win the ITV show - despite saying Gemma Owen and Luca Bish are the strongest couple in the villa.

She said: "At the moment the strongest couple seem to be Gemma and Luca, but I don’t think they’ll win, I think they’ll be in the final. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ekin-Su and Davide win. I think they’ll be in the final. I also think some of the couples that aren’t together now will get back together."

The Irish host admitted that she had a soft spot for Ekin as she said that she "loved" watching 27-year-old Ekin-Su's reactions to all of the drama. She said: "I got star struck when she walked in because she wasn’t part of the original line-up so when I did the coupling up, there was a lot of new people in there and she’s very good.

"Her reactions, I was kind of watching her in my peripheral, so I’ll be talking to, I think it was Mollie, when Mollie said about being in the bed with Davide, and I was just like 'oh!', and Ekin-Su was just, grabbed his hand and threw it away. Like yes Ekin-Su! But I’ve also seen you having a little fiddle as well, I love it, the hypocrisy of it all!"

Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
