While most fans of Love Island are more than aware that Gemma Owen is the daughter of legendary ex-footballer Michael Owen, they might not know that another Islander has a famous dad too.
Maybe Gemma had more in common with Liam Llewellyn than they initially realised when they were coupled up by the public on the first episode of this series on Monday night. It appears that both of the contestants, who are looking for love, have stayed tight-lipped about their sport star dads.
Liam’s dad has been revealed to be Welsh rugby hero David Llewelyn, a former Wales International Rugby Union player. David, known as Dai to friends, now trains other professional athletes including new Welsh boxing talent Joe Cordina, who won the super-featherweight title this month.

Llewellyn won four caps for Wales between 1998 and 1999. He featured a further 12 times on the bench for his country, played in the last Five Nations tournament and made one appearance in the 1999 Rugby World Cup as a replacement against Japan.
Liam is following in his dad’s footsteps by pursuing personal training and a career in strength and conditioning. The Islander’s grandfather Pancho was also into boxing, rugby, and, like Gemma Owen, horses.
Despite actually having so much in common, there wasn't much time for Gemma and Liam to explore their similarities on the ITV2 dating show. On Tuesday, Gemma was stolen away from Liam when Italian stallion Davide entered the villa as a bombshell and chose her to couple up with.
Liam has now been left single and at risk of being dumped from the Island if he does not woo another contestant and partner up with them in the next recoupling. But luckily for him, the public have voted for him to go on not one, but two dates, as two new beautiful bombshells enter the villa tonight.
Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
