Love Island's Gemma Owen gets brutal verdict from body language expert as fans divided

A body language expert has given his brutal verdict on Love Island ’s Gemma Owen as the contestant has faced backlash since the eighth series of the ITV2 hit show returned on Monday.

The brunette bombshell, 19, has already been blasted by former Love Island stars Marcel Somerville, Amber Gill, and Chloe Burrows, and she has been labelled as 'nasty' and 'rude' by unimpressed Love Island viewers.

ITV2 viewers have been particularly riled up by Gemma's attitude towards Liam, who she was initially paired with, before moving on to Italian Stallion Davide.

Body language expert Darren Stanton has now weighed in on the situation in the Love Island villa and Gemma’s chances on making it to the final of the reality dating show, on behalf of Buzz Bingo.

Darren agreed that Davide and Gemma’s recoupling has “definitely ruffled some feathers” and took a look at the pair’s lemon-themed date on Wednesday night to assess their chemistry.

He said: “Gemma is very much into him. While she was talking, she was playing with her hair, we call this hair twizzling, a classic flirting nonverbal signal women do when they’re into someone.

“She likes bad boys despite her reluctance saying Davide is a bit of a player.”

He continued: "Gemma is loving the adulation, but I think as the days go on, she will reveal her vulnerable side."

He then savagely concluded: “Although it’s very early days, I don’t see her making it very far through the competition and feel she could be quite manipulative in order to get her man.’

Following the backlash, Gemma's family – and famous football star dad Michael Owen – are said to be working behind the scenes to try and boost her profile by the time she leaves the villa.

The Love Island star's family have signed her up to the specialist PR agency which looks after former finalist Maura Higgins, 31, to boost her image.

After just three days in the villa, Off Limits Entertainment is now on board to look after Gemma’s image once she departs the show.

Darren went on to reflect on Liam and Davide’s situations in the wake of the bombshell recoupling, describing Liam as “a little insecure” and Davide as “quite arrogant”.

He said: “Liam has worn his heart on his sleeve and seems like a genuinely nice guy and I believe Gemma is going to hurt him.

“I can see Liam being a casualty early on in the show and I predict him to be one of the villas earliest prior to leave.”

He added on Davide: “His posture shows extreme extroversion. It’s clear from Davide’s behaviour, he’s used to having the pick of the bunch however I’m predicting he may actually learn a lesson.

“My gut feeling is he too will be an early casualty on the show as I’m not sure how the arrogant personality will last with the rest of the guys, and the public.”
