Love Island's Alex and Olivia Bowen look shattered nursing sick son

New parents Olivia and Alex Bowen have given an insight into the reality of nursing a sick baby, both documenting the struggle with some tired-looking selfies. The pair who met on ITV's Love Island welcomed their first child together, baby Abel, in June this year.

Used to sharing their lives on television and on social media, since the birth the couple have been very open with people about how they are finding being parents for the first time, sharing the stressful moments any new parents endure as well as the happy memories.

And they gave fans another insight into their lives this week, as they revealed Abel was suffering after a round of injections. Posting on Instagram Alex shared a photo of himself and Olivia looking tired as they finally related on the sofa.

He captioned the post: “Abel’s had his 2nd lot of injections & ain’t well man, up every half hour [crying emoji]”. And mum Olivia looked to be feeling the strain too, the night before the said she was going to an appointment in Birmingham at Abel's bed time and joked it was to get away from the screaming.

But Olivia's pregnancy and birth have not been the easiest of journeys. Speaking to OK! magazine she talked about Abel’s “complicated” birth.

"I have an appointment with a post-natal specialist to check my pelvic floor and lots of other parts of my wellbeing after birth," she explained. I had a bit of a complicated birth, so getting help and advice from a professional is extremely important to me."

While she's gone to professionals for her medical health, the former Love Island star said she has relied heavily on her friends to support and give advice on becoming a parent for the first time.

She told OK! that her pals told her the "ins and outs" of going into labour and giving birth, including all the "down and dirty details" about the pregnancy. She said: "When something happened that was new to me, I would always message the girls like, 'Is this normal?!'"

Olivia also revealed that her husband found the birth traumatic. During an Instagram Q&A session with her 3million followers on her page, the reality star said: "I'm sure he won't mind me saying but Alex found the birth more traumatic than me I think. He hates seeing me in pain & not being able to do anything about it.

"He was my rock throughout he was so calm on the exterior to me, but I know he got upset & took himself away from the situation a few times so he didn't do it in front of me."

"We both cried when he was here. It was nearly two days so we were both just exhausted but so happy," she added with a red heart emoji.
