Love Island in crisis with filming halted and Islanders shut away in villa as storm hits

The drama on Love Island’s latest winter series has been rife, particularly after the fallout of Casa Amor leaving some of the couples questioning the behaviour of their partners.

The ITV show was forced to deal with much bigger problems, however, when the weather took a turn for the worse this week as torrential rain bucketed down, leaving the Islanders locked away in the villa.

Filming outdoors had to be put on hold because of the conditions and the Islanders were under strict instructions to stay indoors.

This is the second time the ITV2 show has been affected by weather issues after high winds caused problems for production at the start of filming the winter series earlier this year.

"The weather in South Africa has been a nightmare over the past 24 hours," a show source told The Sun.

Torrential rain saw the filming of any outdoor scenes halted as the production team waited for the bad weather to subside.

The Islanders were kept inside the villa while the storm passed.

"It isn’t ideal for the producers as viewers want to see the sexy stars in their bikinis lounging by the pool – not sitting around inside," the source explained.

The source added that the storm passed and the weather forecast is looking far more promising for the next few days.

The Mirror has contacted a representative for Love Island for comment.
