Love Island hit with over 200 Ofcom complaints due to age difference coupling

In it's first week back from hiatus, ITV2's Love Island has been hit with over 200 Ofcom complaints.

Love Island returned for it's eighth series on June 6, and fans were quick to jump on the producers when 19-year-old Gemma Owen, daughter of footballer Michael Owen, arrived on the scene, the Mirror reports.

The episode, airing on June 7, where Gemma and Davide, 27, shared a steamy kiss, received 167 complaints in total thanks to the snog between the vastly different islanders.

And on June 12, the show received a further 93 complaints with most of these in relation to the age differences between various islanders.

Some of the complaints were also for other areas, but over 200 were in relationship to age gaps in couplings.

And more drama looks to be brewing under the surface as East Lothian hunk Jay arrives on the scene to ruffle some feathers amongst the islanders.

Earlier today, Edinburgh Live reported that East Lothian Love Island star Jay Younger is already causing quite a stir in the villa on his arrival, as the Musselburgh boy deals with his first dose of drama on Wednesday's episode.

Newest bombshell Jay, an investment analyst, entered the villa on Tuesday alongside Manchester boy Remi Lambert, and has caught the eyes of several girls.

Newer islander Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu already has her sights set on the Scottish lover boy, with other girls also feeling the fantasy of Jay.

But, some of the boys are less than impressed with Jay's flirting game, as the the teaser clip featured at the end of the show depicted Jay getting into a verbal battle with Jacques O'Neill.

All will be revealed on the next episode of Love Island, which airs on Wednesday June 15 at 9pm on ITV2.
