Love Island fans puzzled over Leah and Molly 'friendship' after date drama

Love Island viewers couldn't hide their confusion on Tuesday, after learning two of the girls already knew each other.

Bombshell Leah arrived in the villa and sparked drama when she, and fellow new girl Charlotte, picked three boys for dates.

Viewers were in hysterics when they both picked the two men battling for Islander Molly's affections.

But humour turned to confusion, when fans realised that Leah already knows Molly from before the show - and that they are apparently friends.

Most of the time, bombshells know what is going on in the villa before they enter so there is every chance Leah knew about the love triangle featuring Molly, Mitchel and Zachariah.

That said, she wasted no time in taking both of them on a date leaving Molly rattled and fearing she would be single.

But it's then that Molly recognised new girl Leah, and told the other Islanders that they were "friends".

This comment left viewers baffled, unsure why Leah would take both the men her apparent friend was interested in - with some fans even questioning if something had happened outside of the villa.

Taking to Twitter, one fan tweeted: "Wait. So Molly is friends with the new girl leah, and Leah picked Zach for a date who's getting to know Molly?"

Another agreed: "Leah being Molly’s friend and still choosing Mitch and Zach is CRAZYYYYYY lmao."

A third fan said: "Molly's FRIEND going for a love interest of Molly's?" as a fourth wrote: "not Molly’s friend coming into Love Island to take both her men."

The comments kept on coming too, with one reading: "Leah is Molly's friend outside? Why choose her man Mitch then?"

It comes as Molly confessed to the other Islanders that she knew Leah, calling her her friend. But she didn’t seem to recognise her so-called pal, putting this down to her change in hair colour.

As Leah walked into the villa with Charlotte, Molly took a moment to eye up her competition.

It’s then that she gasped and commented that she thought she might know one of the bombshells, leaving her co-stars stunned.

Molly then realised it was who she thought it was, and revealed they were ‘friends’ - while Leah did not appear to mention Molly during her date with Molly’s current partner Mitchel.

Viewers had unearthed the friendship prior to Leah arriving in the villa, after finding a comment from Molly on an Instagram picture post of Leah’s.

Molly told her pal that she “missed her” in the comment, confirming they knew each other and hinting they were friends.

Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
