Love Island fans already convinced Gemma and Davide 'won't last' ahead of first date

Love Island fans are already convinced Gemma and Davide 'won't last' ahead of their date, set to be aired on Wednesday night's episode. The pair were coupled up in the second episode of the new series, on Tuesday evening, when Davide, 27, picked 19-year-old Gemma, breaking up her coupling with Liam Llewellyn.

Avid viewers took to Twitter to share their views ahead of Wednesday's show, as @hwayunh0 wrote: "davide and gemma will NOT last. they’re at completely different life stages and davide is ready to settle down. has gemma even told him her age??"

And @brooke_saggers tweeted: "Gemma is so attached to Davide, it’s so weird, they won’t last an hour with one another."

In a new twist, the show saw the first coupling of the series decided by the public, unbeknown to the contestants, with Michael Owen's daughter Gemma pairing up with 22-year-old student Liam. But following a shock recoupling on Tuesday night, newcomer Davide, from Manchester, swooped in and paired up with Gemma.

@Nana_Priscillaa tweeted: "If Gemma and Davide get together it probably won’t last cause they’re both strong headed" as @devxnrxden wrote "get Davide and Gemma outtttt."

In a clip ahead of Wednesday's show, 19-year-old international dressage rider Gemma said she was “really happy” after Love Island bombshell Sanclimenti chose to couple up with her. Speaking in the beach hut, Davide added: “I’m now in a couple with Gemma and I’m really happy that she actually felt the same as me. I feel like there is something good between us.”

Later in the show, Gemma receives a text which said: “Gemma and Davide, it’s time for your first date. Please get ready to leave the Villa. Speaking in the Beach Hut ahead of her date, Gemma said: “Hopefully we can have another good chat and I can find out a bit more about him and have that good energy.”

The pair head out of the villa and arrive at a picturesque location for their date where they will be making their own lemonade. During the date, talk turns to marriage and Gemma revealed she would like to get married and have four children.

Viewers said they 'felt old' as she revealed her age to her fellow Islanders in the first episode on Monday. She drew gasps from her new friends in the villa in Mallorca when she told them that she's 19.
