Lots of Halloween hocus pocus in West Lothian as spooky season approaches

There are lots of frightfully good things to do around West Lothian this Halloween.

With the witching season fast approaching, attractions around the county have organised some spell-binding activities for all ages.

At Almond Valley Heritage Centre in Livingston things may seem a little odd. As Halloween approaches, tattiebogles of all shapes and sizes begin to act a little strangely, and you may find them in unexpected places, gazing at you oddly with their big tumshie heids.

They may make you shiver, (but hopefully they will make you smile), as you follow the trail that leads you past dozens of silly, scary, scarecrows who might have clues for you. Collect all of the clues, and a prize may await you. All around, there are seasonal decorations, lots of celebrations, and crafts to try out in the museum.

This runs until October 23 and again from October 29 to 30.

And if you’re brave enough you can also enjoy After Dark with the Tattiebogles, Friday Fright Night on October 28 and Scary Saturday Night on October 29.

At the Five Sisters Zoo at West Calder, Halloween is being celebrated with a party at Leaping Lemurs Soft Play.

The Spooktacular Halloween party takes place on Sunday, October 30 from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Entry is £12 per child and includes soft play entry, games, best dressed competition, dancing, and food for each child.

To book your slot call the soft play on 01506 872200.

Cala Homes (East) is set to host a community Halloween event at its Oakbank development in Winchburgh - complete with ghost stories, pumpkin carving competition and face painting on Friday, October 21 from 6pm to 8pm.

The Chain Runner pub in Livingston is hosting a Wizards School on Sunday, October 23 from 11am to 1pm.

Learn how to make potions and do magic tricks for just £12 per child. Pre-Booking is Required and full payment required when booking. Limited to 30 children, book on 01506 24399.

Come along to The Hive soft play in Bathgate for a Spoostactic Night on Thursday October 27th Friday October 28.

Tickets are £12 per child, there will be freaky fun and games, scary Halloween cupcake decorating and lots of other fun to enjoy.

The ticket includes party food (sandwich, drink and crisps), a cupcake to decorate, face painting a sweet cone to take home and prizes to be won.

And for Bathgate’s grown-up guys and ghouls, the Dreadnought is holding a special 50th anniversary Halloween party on October 29 from 7pm to 2am.

It’s the place to be this Halloween with a full night of action starting with live music then topped off with a very much Rock til ye Drop atmosphere that you just won’t get anywhere else.
