Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and use an alternative route.
Photographs shared on social media show the lorry lying on its side as flames consume the vehicle which is lying off the side of the road. Dark clouds of smoke can also be seen pouring into the sky.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are assisting Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with traffic management following a lorry fire on Cairn O Mount Road, Fettercairn.
"Drivers should use an alternative route, and people should avoid the area to allow emergency services access."
