Lorraine Kelly has opened up about receiving her OBE from the Queen and said she was so nervous, she hardly remembers it.
Speaking to Ben Shepherd and Susanna Reid to tell them about what is coming up on her show, Lorraine recalled the time she received her OBE from the Queen. The Scots telly host was given an OBE in the 2012 New Year Honours list.
Speaking about the moment, she said: "It's been ten years since I got the OBE and my mum at the end said: "What did the Queen say to you?" and I said, "I don't know!" I was so nervous and shaking and you know when you're really really nervous, that your heart beats so loud and it's in your ears and you can't hear anything?"
Ben Shepherd replied: "But everyone will be saying 'you're Lorraine Kelly, you've met everybody across the world! Politicians, film stars... it's that thing isn't it when you're meeting Her Royal Highness?"
Lorraine added: "Absolutely. There's something so special! I do wish I could remember what she said but I just remember looking at this small figure and thinking, it's the whole Kingdom in one woman. She was just absolutely extraordinary. It was an amazing day and I feel incredibly honoured."
The TV presenter, who began her career as a trainee reporter on her local newspaper before joining BBC Scotland and later TVam, received the gong for her services to charity and the Armed Forces.
Speaking afterwards, she said: "I was very, very nervous, but it was an incredible and amazing experience.
"I think because it is here at Holyrood, it made it even more special for me."
Lorraine attended the service with her mother Anne, husband Steve and daughter Rosie.
She added: "I cried all the way through, I don't know what the Queen must have thought. I was just a bit overcome by it all to be honest.
"There are an awful lot of people who work away at charities, who help the Armed Forces, and do an awful lot more than I do. I think I am getting it on their behalf as well for myself."
