Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has joined Premier League side Newcastle United on a short-term deal.
The German international made the move to Merseyside from Mainz in 2016 and made just shy of 50 appearances for the club. He's had loan spells at Union Berlin and Besiktas in recent seasons and departed Liverpool this summer following the expiration of his contract.
Newcastle confirmed the signing on Monday and the 29-year-old joins them on a short-term deal until January, with the option to extend until the end of the campaign. It is understood the club moved for Karius following an injury to goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
