Peter Mandelson has been slapped down by a defence minister for suggesting Ukraine’s leaders should back Donald Trump’s peace plan and commit to a ceasefire before Russia.

Volodymyr Zelensky should give his "unequivocal backing" to the US President’s initiative, the UK ambassador to the US said.
