Loose Women's Ruth Langsford breaks news of show first as viewers have their say

Ruth Langsford broke news of a major first on Loose Women after viewers had their say on a rather contentious issue during Tuesday's episode.

Before she makes an unexpected return to This Morning as main host, to present along Rylan Clark, Ruth was at the head of the panel for the latest edition of the ITV lunchtime talk show, where she was joined by Coleen Nolan, Gloria Hunniford and Sophie Morgan.

As well as discussing the Love Island result and being joined by former I'd Do Anything winner Jodie Prenger, ahead of her debut on Coronation Street, the Loose Women had a debate on whether it's right for young children to get temporary tattoos, after pictures of kids covered in painted on designs from company Not Just A Pretty Facepaint went viral on social media.

Ruth explained: "The owner says she's inundated with requests for full sleeve and chest tattoos on boys and girls." As pictures of boys with the temporary tattoos flashed up on screen, Ruth added: "They look like they're having great fun, they're all smiley. We remember all those stick-on tattoos; remember the tattoos you used to get in your bubble gum?

While the panellists shared opinions on the matter in the studio, with Sophie declaring: "I love It" viewers watching at home were given the opportunity to have their say. Ruth read out some of the comments that came in , including one from a viewer who said the temporary tattoos were "harmless fun," while another asked: "What happened to letting kids be kids?"

And it was then that Ruth revealed that, for the first time in Loose Women history, the viewer poll was tied, with a 50/50 split on how fans had voted when asked: "Would you let your child get tattooed?"

Ruth announced: "For the first time that I remember on Loose Women, we've got an absolute 50/50," as Coleen remarked: "I don't ever remember a 50/50."

Ruth then asked producers to check if it was the first time it had happened, before being told by her long-serving producer Tom that it was. She ended: "Well there's a first for Loose Women - a split result!"
