Loose Women's Denise Welch 'concerned' as alarm threatens to cause chaos in studio

Loose Women was very nearly thrown into chaos on Friday, when an alarm went off minutes into the show starting, just as Denise Welch was speaking.

Having been reprimanded by co-star Katie Piper a day earlier, Denise was back on the panel of the ITV lunchtime programme on Friday, to join host Kaye Adams and co-stars Sunetra Sarkar and Carol McGiffin in the studio, with viewers left curious by the teasing of a big Strictly announcement.

Kaye also revealed that the Loose Women would be joined by special guest Gok Wan, before kicking off proceedings with a discussion about the cost of living crisis, as a newspaper front page carrying the headline 'Broke Britain' flashed up on screen.

The tag line 'Are you concerned about the cost of living?' appeared beneath Denise as the camera panned to her, with the Geordie star saying it was 'the human side of it' that really hit home to her, adding that she was 'sick' of comments about how well paid stars shouldn't be talking about the recession when it won't affect them.

Denise went onto say that she felt 'incredibly lucky' that her family will survive the recession but explained that she had relatives who were in 'desperate situations' due to the soaring cost of bills.

Just as Denise was elaborating on her point she was stopped in her tracks after hearing the alarm going off. As a concerned expression crossed her face, host Kaye stepped in to give assurances, saying: "Sorry, I think there's an alarm outside, but we'll get that checked out," as Denise then continued with what she had to say.

The ex Coronation Street and Waterloo Road actress' appearance on Friday's Loose Women came after she furiously hit back at a troll on Twitter who posted: "Did Denise's dad die? She never mentioned it," as Denise spoke about her late father Vin, who passed away last year.

Denise quickly seized on the horrible post and replied: "Yes he did. The show is about us and our lives Rob!! So go f**k yourself"
