Loose Women's Coleen Nolan floored by Kaye Adams' surprise comment about her weight

Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan was left shocked during Tuesday’s instalment of the ITV daytime chat show, as Kaye Adams made a comment about her weight.

The Loose Women were discussing Victoria Beckham’s comments in a recent interview in which she described the desire to be very thin as an “old fashioned attitude”.

The 48-year-old speculated that women nowadays want to be curvy amid the launch of her new VB Body shapewear collection.

The fashion designer told Grazia magazine : “It's an old-fashioned attitude, wanting to be really thin. I think women today want to look healthy, and curvy. They want to have some boobs - and a bum.”

The Loose Women sat down to discuss the new magazine profile, in which Victoria posed in pieces from her shapewear range for the cover of the magazine - including channelling a Playboy bunny.

During the frank conversation, Kaye Adams turned to Coleen Nolan and unexpectedly asked her about her weight, saying: “So where are you at then? Because you go up and down…”

A shocked Coleen gasped and replied: "Alright Kaye!"

She then laughed off the comment, and went into detail about her journey with her body image.

Coleen explained: “Every season is like a different me. I’ve done everything. And I always ended up being back to where I was at the beginning.

“Since it’s been about health, I’ve dropped a lot of weight. I don't ever count calories, it’s not a diet, it’s about health.”

Kaye also noted the way that body image ideals had permeated her own life.

She said: “I was brought up for most of my adult life thinking thin is good. And I’ve got to be honest about that.” Saying “I have to be careful with what I say here.”

She added: “I’ve got to be honest - I still think skinny is good for me.”

Panellist Katie Piper added about Victoria Beckham’s comments: “Body shaming is body shaming. If you’re calling someone out for how they look you’re shaming them.

“I think what Victoria’s referencing is that in the 90s, they called it heroin chic. And now we have this Kardashian style body.

“But it’s still a struggle to get to that body type. What we call curvy now - it’s still difficult to get to that body.”

Panellist Brenda Edwards said: "I’m somebody who has always embraced my curves." She added: "I think we should always be inclusive of women's bodies from the start.

"Things that stick out for me is people like Adele, where she looks great now, and yes she's lost some weight but I think she looked great then.

"It's interesting that reading the background, a lot of what she keeps saying is she's talking about her bum. Why is there so much emphasis on a bottom now?"
