Loose Women fans dazed by Coleen's Nolan's new 'Ariana Grande hair do'

Loose Women fans were left in a dizzy on Wednesday as Coleen Nolan debuted a surprise new hair look on the ITV daytime show.

The 57-year-old showed off the new look to fellow panellists Jane Moore, Brenda Edwards and Janet Street-Porter.

The TV presenter said she took inspiration for the high ponytail look from Dame Helen Mirren, who similarly showed off a sleek up-do on the red carpet at Cannes over the weekend.

The British national treasure served up a phenomenal, XXL butt-skimming, platinum blonde lock of hair in a half up do which Coleen similarly sported.

Loose Women fans were left surprised by the new look and took to Twitter to weigh in on the look, with one writing: “OMG Coleen’s hair.”

A second ominously wrote: “Jesus Christ Coleen’s hair,” as a third savaged: “What has Coleen Nolan got glued to her head?!? Has she been listening to Ariana Grundy by chance? Oh c’mon darling .. I thought she had a dead cat stuck to the back of her head!”

One sweet fan praised the new look, writing: “Loving the hair Coleen and love it when you are on, always makes my day, love you so much Coleen Xxx”

This comes after Coleen opened up about her family life as a child on Tuesday’s show, telling viewers how her mum used to scrape together for their Christmas presents.

While discussing whether parents should hide their money worries from their children, the 57-year-old told her fellow panellists that when she was a child, her mother pawned her own wedding and engagement ring so that she and her husband could afford to buy their children Christmas presents.

The former singer said: "It's like my mum and dad because we had eight of us and [they] really, really, really struggled but I never knew about it.

"I can only remember my childhood as being happy and fun. Sometimes you'd want something and they'd say, 'Well, we will see what happens.'”

She continued, joking: "When I got to about 15, I realised that 'We'll see' means no," she joked.

"I didn't find out until I was an adult that my mum, one Christmas, actually pawned her wedding and engagement ring so that they had money for Christmas presents from Santa.

When asked by fellow panellist Carol McGiffin if her mother had been able to buy the ring back, Coleen said: "No. She couldn't afford to get it back."

She continued: "We were really, really happy. I had such a lovely childhood and maybe if I had known how much stress they were under, I would have grown up very anxious because kids don't know what they are worried about but they don't like to see their mum and dad worried.”

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV
