Look: USMNT Goalkeeper Matt Turner Crushes Four Homers at Cardinals Batting Practice

The United States men’s national soccer team will be taking the field on Wednesday night for a Concacaf Gold Cup clash against Saint Kitts and Nevis. Ahead of the matchup, which is being held at CITYPARK in St. Louis, USMNT goalkeeper Matt Turner made a guest appearance at Busch Stadium and took some batting practice with the Cardinals ahead of their game against the Astros on Wednesday evening.

Turner, who stepped into the batters box after Nolan Arenado took his cuts, didn’t look half bad with the bat in his hand. He received some words of encouragement from St. Louis’s star third baseman and dug in at the plate.

The 29-year-old got a hold of a few pitches and ended up with four home runs during the session in what as an impressive showing for the Arsenal goalie.

Arenado looked genuinely impressed after Turner sent a pair of baseballs over the wall in right field on back-to-back pitches. He later connected on a no-doubt home run that left Arenado nodding his head in approval.

Turner started the United States’ most recent Gold Cup clash on June 24, a 1–1 draw against Jamaica during which he saved a penalty shot from Leon Bailey. He’s started each of the last three games for the USMNT, between Concacaf Nations League and Gold Cup play.
