Long Eaton thief jailed after stealing toys, booze and meat from shops

A Long Eaton man has been jailed after stealing items from shops across a number of towns. Jordan Werkowski Freeman, formerly of Co-Operative Street, was found to have shoplifted items including toys, alcohol, toiletries, scratch cards, cash, meat, sweets and washing up liquid from shops in Chilwell, Long Eaton and Sawley.

The 32-year-old was subject to a three-year banning order from Long Eaton town centre, which he breached by entering Home Bargains on Tamworth Road, on May 3. Appearing at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court on May 26, Freeman was jailed for a total of 18 weeks imprisonment following the sentencing on Thursday 26 May.

He will continue to be subject to the Criminal Behaviour Order until it expires on 31 August 2024. Sergeant Sarah Carlie, of the Long Eaton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I hope this sentence gives some reassurance that we do take reports seriously and that we will look to bring offenders to justice.”
