London is set for five days of sunshine from next week after bleak weather during the Christmas period, new forecasts show.
The capital will see sunny spells and dry weather from January 3, according to BBC Weather.
Temperatures will hover around 6C during the period, with clear skies expected.
Londoners can also expect sunshine with highs of 9C on Sunday and Monday.
However, gusty winds and rain are forecast in London for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The Met Office forecast says: “Tuesday will be predominantly breezy and cloudy, with just a few bright spells possible early on.
“It will be mainly dry, though the odd spell of light rain or drizzle cannot be ruled out. Predominantly cloudy on New Year's Day, with some bright spells in the afternoon. The odd spot of rain. Windy.”
It follows days of travel disruption across the UK caused by thick fog, which the Met Office said had reduced visibility to just 100 metres in some areas.
Flights at Stansted airport have been affected by the weather conditions, while live departure boards showed delays at Heathrow, Luton and Manchester airports on Saturday.
Data from FlightAware reveals that Gatwick has recorded 238 delays on Saturday, with Heathrow reporting 209 and Stansted 31.
Nats, the UK’s main air traffic control provider, said temporary air restrictions would remain in place on Saturday in areas with low visibility.
The Met Office has advised motorists to go steady when they are driving in fog.
The agency has also issued a yellow weather warning for snow and rain in Scotland next week, warning that heavy downpours may bring “significant disruption” in the build-up to Hogmanay.
