
Commuters face delays this morning after a freight train broke down near High Brooms, blocking some lines to and from Charing Cross station.
Rail operators have warned that services may be cancelled, delayed, or revised while the issue is resolved. Although trains can still run in one direction, no services are currently able to operate from the station heading the opposite way.
Engineers are on site, but disruption is expected to continue until 8am. Passengers are advised to check live travel updates and allow extra time for their journeys.

What is causing the delays?
Friday 5 December 2025 07:33 , Tom PlaceWithout radio communications, train drivers may not be able to receive urgent safety messages, or contact the signaller if there's an incident.
The network is designed to function for a short period of time after a failure, but in this case, Great Northern are no longer able to run services.
Great Northern are working with Network Rail, who manage the radio system, to deal with the issue as quickly as possible.
