London travel news LIVE: Overground line suspended due to trespasser as Tube disruption hits evening rush hour

Commuters are facing major disruption on the Tube into the evening rush hour after a drain collapsed at Baker Street.

The Circle line, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines are all part-suspended and have severe delays due to the infrastructure damage this morning, that has already impacted services for most of the day,

Meanwhile a trespasser on the Libery line has led to the suspension of the line.

Meanwhile, there were severe delays on the Elizabeth line this morning between Heathrow/ Reading and Paddington following a death on the tracks in the Hayes area.

British Transport Police and paramedics were called at 5.10am to reports of a casualty on the tracks and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

BTP said enquiries into the circumstances leading up to the death are ongoing.

Disruption between London Euston and Watford Junction

Damage to the overhead electric wires between Watford Junction and London Euston means that fewer trains are able to run between these stations.

Passengers should expect delays and for some trains to be cancelled.

The disruption is expected until 7pm and is affecting both Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services.

Part closure at Aldgate station

Aldgate station is partly closed as engineers work to fix a collapsed drain on the track at Baker Street.

There is currently no service between Baker Street and Aldgate and minor delays on the rest of the line.

Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, Chiltern Railway and Thameslink.

Disruption continues during evening rush hour

Disruption on the Elizabeth line and several London Underground lines is causing problems for passengers during the evening rush hour.

The District line is part-suspended between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road due to a collapsed drain on the track at Baker Street.

The Circle line is also part-suspended between Edgware Road and Euston Square, with severe delays on the rest of the line.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth line passengers are facing severe delays between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4, as well as minor delays between Hayes & Harlington and Reading, following vandalism to railway equipment in the Paddington area.

There are minor delays on the Central and Victoria lines.

Liberty line suspended due to trespasser on track

The Liberty Overground line has been suspended due to a trespasser on the track at Emerson Park.

It is unclear at this point how long the disruption will last but TfL says London Underground are accepting tickets via any reasonable route.

Elizabeth line delays

The Elizabeth line has seen further delays due to a passenger falling ill on a train. They have now been removed and trains are moving again.

Level crossing barrier fault causing delays to and from Eastbourne

A fault with barriers at a level crossing at Hampden Park is causing delays to journeys to and from Eastbourne.

This is affecting Southern services between Ore and London Victoria & Brighton and also between Eastbourne and London Victoria, Ashford International & Brighton.

Fire near track between Limehouse and West Ham High Level

A fire next to the track between Limehouse and West Ham High Level means that the line is blocked.

Train services running across the whole c2c network may be cancelled, delayed or suspended, with disruption expected until around 3.45pm.

National Rail offers advice for those affected by ATC cancellations

National Rail is offering flexibility to ticket holders who have been affected by airline disruption due to the recent air traffic outage.

Passengers affected by a flight cancellation or amendment and have a train ticket dated Tuesday September 8 or Wednesday 9 September can use their original train ticket on the new date for which their flight has been rebooked.

Customers have been told they can also use their existing ticket to return home on the same day in the event of a flight cancellation if they have already commenced your journey.

Customers must show their airline ticket when using their ticket at an alternative time or on an alternative date.

A fee-free refund within 28 days of date of travel has also been offered if passengers no longer travel, for abandoned journeys or for your original rail ticket if you had to purchase a new one because of a flight diversion.

Central line update

There are severe delays between Leytonstone and Epping on the Central line due to a signal failure at Snaresbrook.

There are also minor delays between North Acton and Ealing Broadway & West Ruislip and between Leytonstone and Hainault due to train cancellations.

There is a good service on the rest of the line.

Tramlink update

There is no service between Beckenham Junction and Harrington Road on the London Tramlink due to a signal failure at Harrington Road.

Tickets are being accepted on London Buses and Southern Railway.

There is a good service on all other tram routes.

Tube and Overground update

There is still no service on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines between Edgware Road and Euston Square, and severe delays on the rest of the lines, due to the collapsed drain on the track at Baker Street.

The issue has also resulted in a part suspensions on he Metropolitan line between Baker Street and Aldgate, with severe delays on the rest of the line.

Meanwhile, there are also minor delays between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4 on the Elizabeth line.

Person dies on tracks this morning

The British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed that a person died on the tracks earlier this morning.

The incident, which had previously been described as a “customer incident” has resulted in severe delays this morning.

A BTP spokesperson said: “We were called at around 5.10am this morning (10 September) to reports of a casualty on the tracks in the Hayes area.

“Officers responded with paramedics, however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries into the circumstances leading up to their death are ongoing."

Disruption between London Bridge and Norwood Junction

A safety inspection of the track between in the Honor Oak Park area means that trains are having to run at a reduced speed on some lines between London Bridge and Norwood Junction.

Some rains running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed, with disruption expected until around 1pm.

This is affecting Southern trains between London Bridge and West Croydon, Epsom, Crowborough, Uckfield, and Caterham, as well as Thameslink services between Peterborough and Horsham, between Cambridge, Bedford and Brighton, and also between Bedford, London Bridge and Three Bridges

Circle line update

The Circle line has now partially reopened.

There is still no service between Edgware Road and Euston Square, and there are severe delays on the rest of the line while TfL fix the collapsed drain on the track at Baker Street.

Tickets are being accepted on London Buses, the Mildmay line, DLR and C2C.

Delays between Purley and Gatwick

A safety inspection of the track in the Earlswood area is causing disruption, meaning trains running between Purley and Gatwick Airport may be delayed.

The disruption is expected until around 11:30am.

It is affecting Gatwick Express services, as well as a number of Southern and Thameslink trains.

The Circle line remains suspended this morning while TfL fix the collapsed drain on the track at Baker Street.

The issue has also caused part suspensions on the Hammersmith & City line between Edgware Road and Euston Square, and on the Metropolitan line between Baker Street and Aldgate, with severe delays on the rest of those lines.

Meanwhile, there are still severe delays between Abbey Wood and Heathrow Airport & Reading on the Elizabeth line following a late finish of engineering work at Westbourne Park and an earlier customer incident.

There are also minor delays on the Victoria and Central lines due to train cancellations.

Elizabeth line reopens

The Elizabeth line has reopened between Paddington and Heathrow Airport & Reading; albeit with severe delays, following the earlier customer incident and the late finish of engineering work at Westbourne Park.

Due to the ongoing disruption, tickets are being accepted on London Underground, Great Western Railway, South Western Railway, Chiltern Railway, DLR, Southeastern and Thameslink.

There is a good service on the rest of the line.

District line update

Service is improving on the District line - there are now just minor delays between Earl's Court and Ealing Broadway & Richmond while TfL fix the collapsed drain on the track at Baker Street.

Baker Street update

The issues at Baker Street have been caused by a collapsed drain, according to TfL.

Teams are on site trying to fix the issue, while a number of Tube lines remain affected.

The Circle line, and parts of the Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City lines, remains suspended, while there are severe delays on the District line.

Further delays in west London

Train crew being delayed between West Ealing and Greenford means that trains are unable to run between these stations.

Some trains will be cancelled, with disruption expected until around 8.15am.

This is affecting a number of Great Western Railway services this morning.

London Tramlink part suspended

There is currently no London Tramlink service between Beckenham Junction and Harrington Road due to a signal failure in the Harrington Road area.

There remains a good service on all other tram routes.

Baker Street update

According to TfL, the issue at Baker Street is with track drainage.

TfL engineers are currently on site assessing what has happened and working out a plan to resolve it as quickly as possible..

There is no current indication that the damage was done by anyone maliciously.

Casualty on track on Elizabeth line

There is no service on the Elizabeth line between Paddington and Heathrow Airport & Reading while emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.

There is also no service between Paddington and Abbey Wood following a late finish of engineering work at Westbourne Park.

Tickets are being accepted on London Underground via reasonable routes.

There is a good service on the rest of the line.

'Infrastructure damage' at Baker Street

Several Tube lines ae currently affected by what TfL are calling “infrastructure damage on the track” at Baker Street.

The Circle line is fully suspended in both directions due to the issue, as is the Metropolitan Line between Baker Street and Aldgate and the Hammersmith & City line between Edgware Road and Moorgate.

There are also severe delays on the rest of those lines, as well as between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road on the District line.

Problems on the Tube delay Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge

Issues on the Tube have delayed the Chelsea vs Leeds match at Stamford Bridge.

The Circle Line is facing severe delays due to an earlier incident at South Kensington Tube, that has been described as a “passenger incident”.

It is being reported as a possible casualty on the tracks.

The District Line, the line which takes fans to Fulham Broadway for Stamford Bridge, has also been part suspended,

There is no service between High Street Kensington and Edgware Road and severe delays on the rest of the line.

Fans can still get to Fulham Broadway but the delays mean authtorities have decided to delay the game.

Services between Paddington and Heathrow reduced until the end of the day

Rail services between Paddington and Heathrow will continue to run at a reduced rate until the end of the day, National Rail has said.

Vandalism to railway equipment over the weekend has impacted Elizabeth line, Great Western Railway, and Heathrow Express routes between Paddington and Heathrow.

National Rail said Elizabeth line services be will running two trains per hour to and from Heathrow Terminal 5, Heathrow Terminal 4, Maidenhead, and Reading.

Great Western Railway services may be cancelled or revised, with a reduced service calling at Slough, Maidenhead, and Twyford.

Heathrow Express services will operate at a reduced frequency.

National Railway warned this is expected to continue “until at least the end of the day today.”

Lines reopen between Liverpool Street and Cheshunt

Train lines from Liverpool Street have reopened after National Rail announced that emergency services had completed works at Ponders End station.

Police officers were called to Ponders End railway station near Tottenham Hale at around midday to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

National Rail said completion of the works has allowed all lines between London Liverpool Street and Cheshunt to reopen.

Trains may still be delayed and disruption is expected to continue until 6pm, National Rail warned.

Emergency services complete works

National Rail announced that emergency services have now completed their works, and normal service has resumed on the London Overground.

A major disruption was announced earlier after a person was hit by a train and killed at Anerley station in Bromley.

While lines between New Cross Gate and Norwood Junction have now reopened, National Rail says it still expected the disruption to continue until 4.45pm.

Disruption announced between Wimbledon and Epsom

This is due to a safety inspection of the track being conducted at Worcester Park.

Major disruption after person hit by train

A major disruption to London rail services has been announced after a person was hit by a train.

Emergency services were called to Anerley station in Bromley at 10.40 am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Overground, Southern and Thameslink services have all been affected.

All lines between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace as well as Norwood Junction are closed.

National Rail estimates that major disruption could continue until 4.45pm.

Fire damage continues to cause delays on the Elizabeth Line

Delays are ongoing on the Elizabeth Line between Paddington and Heathrow Terminal 4, after vandals lit a fire near the tracks last weekend.

Around 40 firefighters responded to a grass fire set near Scrubs Lane, North Kensington on Saturday, which damaged nearby equipment.

TfL said the damage from the incident is continuing to cause delays.
