- London Stansted Airport has increased its express drop-off charge from £7 to £10 for stays of 15 minutes or less, with fees rising to £28 for stays over 15 minutes.
- The airport spokesperson said the price hike is for sustainability reasons, aiming to reduce 'kiss and fly' journeys and manage congestion near the terminal.
- Stansted claims the charges, which had remained unchanged for six years, are part of a drive to increase public transport use, with nearly 50 per cent of passengers already using trains, coaches, or buses.
- The system operates without barriers, using number plate recognition, and drivers must pay online after drop-off or pick-up.
- Stansted is the latest UK airport to raise drop-off fees, following similar increases at Gatwick, Bristol, and London City airports.
