London accent voted one of the most attractive worldwide

A recent American survey could make Londoners feel very proud of the way they speak, as they have voted the London accent as one of the sexiest accents in the world.

The Highland Titles survey included 1,000 participants across the United States. The participants were asked to reveal the accent they find the most attractive across the globe.

The results showed that a number of British accents conquered the hearts of US folk. While the Aussie accent topped the list as the accent most likely to make people weak at the knees, the runner-ups were the Scottish and London accents, respectively.

The other British accents that made the top eight were the Welsh and Brummie accents.

Here is a look at the most attractive accents in the world:

  1. Australian
  2. Scottish
  3. London
  4. Irish
  5. French
  6. Italian
  7. Welsh
  8. Brummie

Meanwhile, one of the least attractive accents in the world was found to be the Yorkshire accent. Others on the list were New York, Boston, Canadian, and German.

While Americans were a fan of the London accent, it didn’t make the list for most romantic accents, which was dominated by French, Spanish, and Australian.

However, the UK completely took over the top three for the world’s most sophisticated accents, with the Yorkshire, London, and Brummie accents taking the win home.

The study also looked into the actors Americans deemed to have the most enjoyable and most difficult accents.

The top 10 most enjoyable accents included Sean Connery, Liam Neeson, Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Caine, and Tom Hardy.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sofie Vergara, Sylvester Stallone, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li, however, were deemed to have the most difficult accents to understand. British Comedian Ricky Gervais also made this list.

The survey also revealed that 71 per cent of Americans were interested in dating someone with an accent.
