Grammy Award winning singer Lizzo appears to have given fans an insight into how she managed to lose weight at her own pace and still embrace her body. The Detroit-born musician has gone short of praising weight loss, but does admit she's on her own pound-shedding journey.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Lizzo says she eats a "super clean" diet which she follows not to explicitly lose weight, but because she likes it. She told the magazine: "I lead a very healthy lifestyle—mentally, spiritually, I try to keep everything I put in my body super clean. Health is something I prioritize, wherever that leads me physically."
"Like veganism, people were like, 'You're a vegan? What, are you deep frying the lettuce?' I'm not a vegan to lose weight, I just feel better when I eat plants."
However, Lizzo also noted that she has her bad days: "Just when you think you've got it all figured out, it changes again. I eat when I'm stressed out, sometimes to the point where I didn't realise how much I ate. Anything can be harmful, but it comforts me in a way."
In a TikTok back in 2020, Lizzo revealed she has been working out for years and can be seen skipping, squatting and cycling. Lizzo says in the post: "I've been working out consistently for the last five years, and it may come as a surprise to some of y'all, but I'm not working out to have your ideal body type — I'm working out to have my ideal body type"
She suggested that those who monitor her weight on social media and leave comments they should mind their own business and that health is not just determined by how you look on the outside. Lizzo said: "Health is also about what happens on the inside, and a lot of y'all need to do a cleanse for your insides!"
Lizzo is the founder of Yitty, a 'revolutionary' shapewear brand designed for all body types from 6X to XS, and has promoted body positivity since rising to fame.
