Liz Truss has become the unlikely star of a video game. But In Liz We Trust? may not be one the Prime Minister chooses to play in her down time as it does not paint her in an entirely flattering light.
The free web-based 8-bit romp, which was released today (October 11), sees the player control the PM as she goes from home to home looking for pound coins to deliver to the City of London.
But a number of recognisable figures are pursuing her, including Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, Tory MP Michael Gove and Governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey. And as the game warns at the start: "Unlike Boris, you only have three lives before it's GAME OVER."
The game was a collaboration between creative agency Cow, developer Bart Alluyn of Lessis Games and Tom Gullen, co-founder of game engine Construct. Mr Gullen said it was “conceived and developed in three working days at a cost of just £750, which is even less these days than it was before the mini-budget”.
He added: "“Following the catastrophic fallout from Liz’s first weeks in power, we were naturally concerned as a small British business. We thought the best thing we could do was what we do best, with a satirical twist, to put a smile on people’s faces in otherwise grim times.
“We are sure it’ll be a big hit with everyone across the nation, from Nicola Sturgeon to Rishi Sunak." The game can be accessed at http://construct.net/inlizwetruss
