LIZ Truss has been branded "sadistic and evil" for voting against a ban on arms being sent to Saudi Arabia.
An audience member on the BBC's Debate Night - who had family from Yemen - said Truss's actions go beyond "detestable", as she highlighted the Prime Minister had "taken away human lives" and still secured the keys to Number 10.
The eight-year-old conflict in Yemen is between the internationally-recognised government, which is backed by a Saudi-led military coalition, and Houthi rebels supported by Iran.
The humanitarian crisis in Yemen is said to be among the worst in the world due to widespread hunger, disease and attacks on civilians.
During a discussion about Nicola Sturgeon saying she "detested" the Tories, the audience member said: "A couple of years ago Liz Truss went against a ban on arms sales to send arms to Saudi Arabia, and those arms are obviously going to go and kill innocent Yemenis including school buses full of children, marketplaces, funerals and weddings.
"I would go further than saying that what that is is detestable – I think it’s downright sadistic and evil."

After the presenter pointed out that concerned policy rather than individuals, she replied: "But she’s Prime Minister now and she’s gotten away with that.
"I think that just shows you can do really evil things and take away human lives and still get a promotion in your job.”
During the discussion, Tory MSP Jeremy Balfour also said Sturgeon's language bordered on a hate crime.
Sturgeon defended her comments by saying she was referring to Tory policies and values.
