A spokesperson for former President Donald Trump’s campaign responded to former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney campaigning with Kamala Harris in Wisconsin by highlighting a 2020 social media post where Cheney was critical of the vice president.
Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, when asked for a comment regarding the pair’s appearance together on Thursday, pointed to a 2020 tweet posted by the Wyoming Republican. In the tweet, Cheney criticized Kamala Harris for having what she described as a more liberal voting record than Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Cheney highlighted Harris' views on raising taxes, banning gun sales, taxpayer funding for abortion and illegal immigrant health care, and eliminating private health insurance, stating that these policies would be devastating for America.
The upcoming campaign event in Ripon, Wisconsin, where Harris will be campaigning with Cheney, holds significance as Ripon is commonly recognized as the birthplace of the GOP. This event is part of Cheney's efforts to sway undecided voters away from Trump with less than five weeks until Election Day. Cheney, who has previously expressed her commitment to preventing Trump from returning to the White House, endorsed Harris last month in North Carolina, another swing state.
