Livingston boss sends well wishes to hospitalised Scotland striker

Livingston boss David Martindale has sent his well wishes to former striker Lyndon Dykes with the Scotland ace battling a serious infection in hospital.

The 27-year-old - who was sold for a club record fee of £1.7m in 2020 - was admitted to hospital on Friday with current club Queens Park Rangers saying they were ‘closely monitoring’ his situation.

The Rs lost 3-0 to Hull City on Saturday with him out of the line-up.

Martindale said: “The big man texted me on Saturday. He sent a picture of him watching Soccer AM in his hospital bed. Hopefully he makes a recovery very, very soon.

“Everybody at Livingston wants to see him back playing football as soon as possible.

“He’s having a half decent season at QPR and they need him. Hopefully the big man can make a quick recovery.”

He added: “I think we put a wee smile on his face watching us on Soccer AM. He text asking why we never got them in when he was here. I said ‘cos you would have missed all the shots and lost to Jimmy Bullard’.”
