Lewis Koumas was the matchwinner for Liverpool U18s once again as he secured hard-earned victory over Nottingham Forest.
Koumas moved on to nine strikes in as many appearances at Academy level this season by scoring the only goal in the U18 Premier League North clash at Kirkby on Saturday.
The 17-year-old forward notched after nine minutes to keep Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's side three points behind early leaders Sunderland and Stoke City.

The only goal of the game was initiated by a strong tackle from James McConnell, with the ball finding Trent Kone-Doherty on the right flank. The winger's shot was parried by Forest goalkeeper Aaron Bott with Koumas reacting quickest to convert the rebound.
But Liverpool were indebted to a fine performance from goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek, who made a series of impressive saves including a double stop late on from Forest's Connor Brown.
Liverpool are next in action on Tuesday when they entertain Rangers at Kirkby in the UEFA Youth League (kick-off 1pm).
LIVERPOOL U18s (4-3-3) : Mrozek; Gyimah (Giblin 78), Miles, Pinnington, Hayes-Green; Laffey (Pilling 59), McConnell, Morrison (Roberts 67); Doak, Koumas, Kone-Doherty (Young 67). Sub: Hewitson.
