'Liverpool won't go far' - Man City fanbase reacts as Champions League hopes given a 'boost'

Manchester City fans have been reacting after Liverpool narrowly progressed through to the Champions League quarter-finals with a 2-1 aggregate win over Inter Milan.

At times the Reds managed to control the game against their Serie A opponents, but Lautaro Martinez's stunning strike gave the away side hope. However, moments later the match was snatched away from Inter.

Former Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez was given a second yellow card for a challenge on Fabinho. The 10 men were unable to complete their comeback late on as Liverpool progressed by the narrowest of margins.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich comfortably qualified for the quarter-finals with a 7-1 victory on the night against RB Salzburg. Robert Lewandowski, who has been linked with a move to City in the summer, scored an 11-minute hat-trick to help his side to a comfortable win.

For City fans, plenty of eyes were on Liverpool's performance. The Merseyside club sit six points behind City in the Premier League with a game in hand as they battle it out for the title.

The manner of their win over Inter has not concerned many City fans heading into the run-in. Here is what they had to say after their display on Tuesday night.
