Peterborough United chairman and Liverpool fan Darragh MacAnthony believes Jude Bellingham would still represent 'good value' even if he were to cost more than £200million.
The Borussia Dortmund midfielder's price-tag took yet another potential leap last night as he played a crucial role in England's 3-0 World Cup round-of-16 win against Senegal. It was his driving run and cutback that found Reds captain Jordan Henderson for the opener on 38 minutes, and it was he who picked up a loose ball in midfield to set the wheels in motion for Harry Kane to make it 2-0 before the break.
Manchester City star Phil Foden last night described Bellingham as 'one of the most gifted players I've ever seen', while Jamie Carragher has since likened the 19-year-old's breakthrough campaign to that of Paul Gascoigne during Italia '90. Fair praise, then, for the teenager and an encouraging period for Dortmund who will look to maximise the profit from the mere £20million they signed him for in 2020.

And according to MacAnthony, that profit could rocket ten-fold and Bellingham could be the first midfielder to top the £200million mark - a point reached only by Paris Saint Germain's purchase of Neymar 2017. And the Posh chairman still believed that would be a 'good value' deal for any potential suitors.
He tweeted: "This Jude kid might be the first £200 million quid CM transfer fee paid. Whoever lands him has a world class player potentially for next 15 years. Work that out per annum (good value)"
And in replying to a comment about Bellingham's cost, he added: "Average way bill for top club is over £300 mill so paying 8% of it per annum for what will be one of top 5 players in world soon enough running your midfield means bargain not to mention half of it will be offset by commercial income on said player. Generational talent!"
