Liverpool told to sign £51m Sadio Mane replacement by former Manchester United and Chelsea man

Liverpool have been told who could be the ideal replacement for Sadio Mane by a former Manchester United and Chelsea goalkeeper.

Reports in recent weeks have heavily linked Mane with a move to Bayern Munich. With Robert Lewandowski’s future at the Bundesliga giants uncertain, Bayern could be in the market for a big signing this summer.

Liverpool would demand more than €30m for Sadio Mane this summer and will only consider selling if a replacement is sourced. The Senegalese international is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

Anfield sources insist Mane has not communicated his desire to leave - but they are braced for contact from Bayern as speculation in Germany intensifies over the 30-year-old.

The ECHO understands that Liverpool will want a sum in excess of the fee of £25.5m (€30m) that has been reported across German media this month. Despite only having a year on his terms at Anfield, the Reds feel the player’s quality - as evidenced by his 23 goals this term - versatility and experience make him worth considerably more.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has claimed that RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku could be a player the Reds look to as a replacement for Mane. The Australian explained how the forward’s form this season has put him in contention for a possible move this summer.

“I was going to say that’s the $64million (£51million) question but it might actually cost a bit more than that,” Bosnich is quoted telling Sky Sports, via The Mirror .

“I was thinking about that today and watching from the Champions League, there’s the boy from Leipzig I think, Nkunku. He was somebody who really stood out for me.

“I know Leipzig dropped down into the Europa League and were knocked out in the semi-finals by Rangers but he was exceptional and that’s what I was thinking about today when I was thinking about if Mane leaves, what to do and that’s the one that came to mind for me.”
