Liverpool will today learn whether or not it has made the shortlist of UK cities that could host next year's Eurovision Song Contest.
The city officially put its bid forward earlier this week to host the huge event next year. Leading city figures have been campaigning for the city for several weeks.
The world famous song contest will be held somewhere in the UK next year. This is after UK entrant Sam Ryder came second in this year's contest with his song Spaceman. The winners of this year's contest was Ukraine and its rap-folk ban Kalush Orechstra, but it was decided that the ongoing invasion of the country by Russia would make it impossible to hold next year's event there.

Since it was announced that the UK would be the home of Eurovision in 2023, a number of cities have thrown their names into the hat. Liverpool will be fending off competition from other cities like London, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, Belfast, Aberdeen, Birmingham and Darlington.
All of the entrants will be listening intently to BBC Radio 2 this morning. An announcement of which areas have been shortlisted from the European Broadcasting Union is expected at around 8.30am.
Speaking about Liverpool's bid, Liverpool Council's assistant mayor and cabinet member for culture and visitor economy, Cllr Harry Doyle said: "We are excited to have submitted a bid for Liverpool to host Eurovision 2023.
“Making a major event like this possible in such a short timeframe is complicated and is going to need some careful and creative planning, but we think Liverpool would be the perfect stage to celebrate this unique Eurovision. We look forward to finding out if we have been successful in getting through to the next stage of the process.”
