Liverpool star James Milner makes 'special' Mohamed Salah admission as Inter Milan warning sent

Liverpool's James Milner believes Mohamed Salah is among the best players in the world at the moment and says 'you just have to stop and applaud' the goals he scores.

The Egyptian has scored 23 goals in all competitions for the Reds so far this season and he's helped his national team reach the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Hailed by many as the best player on the planet right now, Milner says he's 'blessed' to train alongside the 29-year-old.

"For me, the last few months, if he's not, there is someone playing very, very well in front of him," the Liverpool midfielder told Premier League Productions.

"For me, he is right up there – the goals he's scoring, the numbers he's putting up consistently, goals and assists.

"Obviously I might be slightly biased – and I'm blessed as well because I get to train with him every day and see how good he is in training as well – but I think he has to be the best over the recent months and hopefully long may it continue.

"He's special. Some of the goals he's scoring at times, you just have to stop and applaud them really."

Seven of Salah's goals this season have come in the Champions League as he scored in all but one of Liverpool's group stage clashes.

He'll need to be in similar form if the Reds are to overcome Inter Milan in the round of 16 tie, but Milner has warned the Serie A giants have a 'goal machine' of their own.

"It's a big tie. You can reflect on the draw and obviously we know how tough of a draw it is," he added.

"They're a very good team, I think they're top of the league at the moment, they've got some good players and a couple of guys I used to play with as well.

"Edin [Dzeko] is still banging them up top as well – he's a goal machine and he will score goals wherever he plays."
