Liverpool release strong new statement on 'shocking' UEFA Champions League final report
Liverpool have urged UEFA to implement the recommendations outlined in the damning independent report that laid the blame primarily on the governing body for the chaos at last season's Champions League final.
Supporters were penned against fences and teargassed by police during troubling scenes before, during and after the match at the Stade de France in Paris last May, which Real Madrid won 1-0.
The 220-page review, which was published on Monday evening and compiled based on interviews and testimonies from witnesses and key stakeholders, exonerated Reds fans and said UEFA were "primarily responsible for failures which almost led to disaster".

And Liverpool have now criticised the "shocking false narratives" that sought to blame supporters for the trouble, and said the event exacerbated the suffering of the families, friends and survivors of the Hillsborough disaster.
A statement released by Liverpool on Tuesday morning said: "Last night UEFA published the Independent Panel Report into the failings that we saw first-hand in Paris and it is within this context that we call on UEFA and others at the top of the football regulation pyramid to come together and take positive and transparent action to ensure there are no more ‘near misses’.

National media make 'threatening' Liverpool point after new discovery against Everton
Liverpool ensured they would still have plenty to play for between now and the end of the season as they gave their chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League a massive boost with a 2-0 victory over Everton at Anfield.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo either side of half-time were enough to down the Blues and condemn Sean Dyche to his first defeat as Everton boss. For Jurgen Klopp and his side, meanwhile, victory sees them move up to ninth place in the Premier League table.
After a gritty opening half hour at Anfield, a lighting-quick counter-attack from the Reds, orchestrated by the sheer speed of Darwin Nunez, allowed Salah to notch his eighth Premier League goal of the campaign and capitalise on some woeful positioning from Jordan Pickford.
Liverpool's £37m January arrival, Gakpo, was on hand shortly after the interval to clinch the three points for Klopp's side when he found himself in acres of space at the back post to tap home Trent Alexander-Arnold's low-driven cross.
