Liverpool will go in search of a seventh European Cup this evening when they take on Real Madrid in Paris.
Jurgen Klopp's side will be looking to avenge their 3-1 defeat to the Spanish side in the final four years ago. Unlike in 2018, however, Liverpool are the favourites to prevail as winners on this occasion, although they will be all too aware of Madrid's history of success in the competition.
Having contested 16 finals over the years, Los Blancos have won the European Cup a record 13 times, including three years running between 2016 and 2018 when they became the first club to achieve this feat on more than one occasion.

One of the finals Real were unable to win came against Liverpool in 1981, also in Paris, as Alan Kennedy's late strike sealed victory for the Reds at the Parc des Princes. Klopp's current crop will be hoping there will be similar celebratory scenes in the French capital tonight.
Much of Liverpool's success in Europe's elite competition arrived in the 1970s and 1980s, which saw Borussia Monchengladbach, Club Brugge, Real Madrid and Roma all defeated as a total of four European Cups were claimed in the space of seven years.
The Reds' next European Cup triumph arrived in 2005, in one of the greatest games of all-time, as Rafa Benitez's sude came back from three goals down to beat AC Milan in Istanbul.
Liverpool's latest Champions League triumph was three years ago, which saw Tottenham Hotspur defeated in an all-English showpiece in Madrid.
Below is a list of the European Cup finals Liverpool have featured in during the club's history. The European Cup was rebranded as the Champions League during the 1992/93 season.
