Liverpool are now eight points off the Champions League places as Newcastle United earned their revenge over Manchester United.
Jurgen Klopp's side will want to forget this weekend quickly as their second-half demise was pounced upon by Manchester City's ruthless attacking prowess. It was a nightmare return to Premier League action as they were brushed aside by the Citizens and later in the day, they saw both Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford leapfrog them.
Greater emphasis falls on Liverpool's upcoming games as they come up against Chelsea and an in-form Arsenal who are looking to create daylight between themselves and Pep Guardiola's side.

On Sunday, headed goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson helped them atone for their Carabao Cup disappointment against the Red Devils. The three points moved them above their opponents and with Tottenham Hotspur still to play (next game against Everton on Monday), the pressure is mounting on Liverpool if they are to qualify for Europe next season.
As it stands going into tomorrow's clash at Goodison Park, Spurs still have a seven-point cushion over the Reds but that sits at just four points as the Seagulls lurk. Aston Villa have nudged their way into contention with their 2-0 win over Chelsea.
There is a quick turnaround for the Londoners and captain Jordan Henderson as he could be leading the 11 out at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
