Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp makes title admission after sending Steven Gerrard message

Liverpool are finally starting to find their feet after a tough start to the Premier League season, and Jurgen Klopp will be eager to make it a nine-point week against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds followed up on last weekend's impressive triumph over Manchester City by edging out West Ham in midweek. Darwin Nunez was on target to seal a 1-0 win for Klopp's men, who moved up to seventh in the league after winning back-to-back games.

When he was asked about the decision, Klopp revealed in his pre-match press conference on Friday that he has already been in touch with Gerrard since his dismissal.

Cryptic Keita update

Klopp was coy when discussing Naby Keita's future (Sky Sports)

Naby Keita is one of three Liverpool players who are closing in on a return to fitness - but Klopp was giving little away over the Guinean midfielder's long-term future.

Keita, who has been sidelined since the end of July with a hamstring issue, is due to become a free agent next summer and there have been no indications that a new deal is in the works to extend the 27-year-old's Anfield stay.

And while Klopp revealed that Keita, along with Ibrahima Konate and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, is poised to return to training, he did little to quell talk that Keita could leave the club for nothing in less than 12 months' time.
