Liverpool insiders hint at Jude Bellingham plan as potential new sporting director emerges

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Thursday, December 1.

Bellingham race assessed

With each increasingly impressive Jude Bellingham performance for England at the Qatar World Cup, Jurgen Klopp is likely wincing just that little bit more.

Bellingham's talent as one of the stars of Borussia Dortmund at the age of just 19 means he is hardly a well-kept continental secret, but more and more people are being alerted to the ability of an all-action midfielder who seems to have the lot.

The BVB man was once more outstanding for the Three Lions as they beat Wales 3-0 on Tuesday night to secure a last-16 clash with Senegal on Sunday.

Liverpool will be one of the clubs expected to contest the battle for Bellingham's signature next summer if Dortmund accept that they can no longer keep their teenage sensation at Westfalenstadion - and the Reds' interest is a long-standing one that dates back to his days as a junior footballer.

New sporting director candidate

Former Borussia Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat is reportedly eyeing a reunion with Jurgen Klopp having said to have expressed an interest in becoming Liverpool's next sporting director.

Mislintat worked with Klopp at the Bundesliga side between 2008 and 2015, overseeing Dortmund's ongoing policy of signing and developing young players before selling them on for huge profits.

The 50-year-old, who went on to become chief scout at Arsenal between November 2017 and February 2019, left his position as sporting director at Stuttgart on Wednesday afternoon after more than three years in the role.

And reports in Germany have indicated he would be open to once again operate alongside Klopp, with Liverpool having started the process of appointing a successor to sporting director Julian Ward, who it was confirmed last week will leave the club at the end of the season.
