Liverpool are again set to be without Mohamed Salah in the new year, with the forward likely to captain Egypt at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
With the finals set to take place from January 13 to February 11 in Ivory Coast, the 31-year-old could miss at least five matches, with four coming in the Premier League, if the Pharaohs reached the final. Throw in progression in the FA Cup and League Cup and such a total rises to eight games, with the possibility of replays in the former even ruling Salah out of a potential 10 outings.
Salah missed six matches for his AFCON exploits in 2022 as he helped Egypt reach the final, only to lose on penalties to Sadio Mane’s Senegal.
